As a former Chair of the Mississippi Center for Legal Service Board of Directors, I continue to strongly support legal services because the representation of indigent people, i.e. poor people, is essential to making "equal justice for all" a reality.  The need for legal services is as critical today as it has ever been.

I encourage you to contribute to the Mississippi Center for Legal Services' Year End Campaign. More than 20 years ago, I had the fortune to start my legal career at MCLS as a law student intern, volunteer, and later, attorney. I learned firsthand, the great number of Mississippians who work very hard, yet due to low incomes, are unable to obtain an attorney to remedy legal issues negatively affecting their lives. The small, dedicated team at MCLS works extremely hard to achieve positive results for these clients at no cost to them. I consider my work at MCLS to be one of my life's major blessings as it sparked my desire to dedicate my career to serving the public. While it has been years since I've worked at MCLS, I have never forgotten my experiences there and remain forever thankful. 2020 has been extremely challenging. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the need for legal services has drastically increased as many Mississippians struggle financially. To meet these challenges, it is imperative that MCLS increase its funding and resources. Please make a positive difference today by donating to MCLS.

I am an attorney and have taken on pro bono representations of indigent Mississippians throughout my practice years. But those services are the proverbial "drop in the bucket"! The problems of such clients are just too immense for one attorney to make a significant difference. The Mississippi Center for Legal Services, and its predecessors, have taken on the task of providing high-quality free civil legal assistance to the needy Mississippians in the forty-three counties it serves. This is an enormous task and is particularly difficult with the lack of available resources to the MCLS. That is why I encourage all Mississippians to support the work of the Mississippi Center for Legal Services.
